YELLOW is the third and final installment in Kang Daniel’s Color series, in which he reveals how so far it has only been scratched the surface of the emotions and stories he hides, the ones that hurt the most.
The color yellow is usually associated with something bright, warm and radiates positive energy. But for Daniel it doesn’t. For him it’s a sign of alarm and danger, a state of imperfection, a color that has lost its warmth and has become the coldest in the world.
The three mini albums combined refer to the CMYK color model, which consists of the colors CYAN, MAGENTA, and YELLOW. At its center, where all three colors mix, is the color blacK.
Daniel’s head of A&R said:
[Daniel is] the K in CMYK. It’s the K in the middle. He’s the center of it all.

When we started the COLOR series, I wanted each color to represent something different. CYAN had a youthful vibe, whereas MAGENTA was more energetic, powerful and fun. YELLOW kind of takes a step back into a darker period in my life. My hope is that people can relate to my music and the overall body of work as we all go through ups and downs.
